Ready to eat fresh local seafood? We’ve got you covered. North Carolina has some of the best seafood in the world.
Wanting to eat fresh, local seafood, people are sometimes bewildered and overwhelmed by the array of choices in our fillet cases and whole fish counters
Our customers often ask about the different kinds of fish we have for sale, but decide to buy something they know – instead of trying a lesser known locally caught fish.
“I want to try it,” one woman said, referring to the Spanish Mackerel fillet in the case, “but I don’t know how to cook it.”
And though our fishmongers give cooking advice or sometimes throw in a different type of fillet for free, people are reticent to veer from what they know.
However, as Paul Greenberg points out in his book- “American Catch” – Americans are losing out on the health benefits that lesser-known seafood species provide.
The medical community recommends that a healthy diet include at least two portions of fish a week because fish and shellfish are good sources of many vitamins and minerals.
To help our customers in the quest to eat local, fresh and healthy seafood, we are offering a weekly package of various seafood – to include fish, shellfish and crustaceans – beginning October 14 and continuing through to November 18.
Seaview Crab Company will provide packages of fresh ready-to-cook local seafood weekly for customers signed up for the program. Our seafood is locally sourced from areas such as the Pamlico Sound, the Cape Fear River, the Topsail area, Masonboro Sound, the Atlantic Ocean and the fishing villages of Wanchese and the Core Sound.
Here’s how it works:
Each Friday (starting October 14) we will have seafood packages available for pick-up at 1515 Marstellar Street between 3 to 6:30 pm.
Content of the package will contain a variety of fish, shellfish and crustaceans.
Size of the package depends on which option you select:
Half share – 2 to 3 portions of seafood – $150 for entire six-week period
Full share – 4 to 5 portions of seafood – $270 for entire six-week period
Each package will contain recipes, seafood storage advice and other extras.
(NOTE: Payment for the entire six-week period is required at the first pick- up)
